Pi Kappa Phi Clemson University

Philanthropy

Our Committment

The brothers of Pi Kappa Phi continue to maintain a strong commitment to long-established philanthropic relationships, as well as exploring new and unique ways to give back to the Clemson community.

The Ability Experience
Pi Kappa Phi remains the only national fraternity to have started and maintained its own philanthropy organization called "The Ability Experience". This program gives people with disabilities opportunities that they normally are unable to receive on the average day. It connects young men with the opportunity to give back to these people, and to grow within themselves into the men we are proud to call our brothers.
For more, see The Ability Experience.

ClemsonLIFE
The ClemsonLIFE program is run by Clemson University and is still relatively young in its existence. However, its impact across the Clemson community is felt largely. This program gives students with learning disabilities the opportunity to receive a college degree. This program prepares them for a future career, and allows them to live independently and integrate themselves largely into the Clemson culture. We are proud to have one of our brothers, David Saville, be a part of this program. Through ClemsonLIFE, he has been given the opportunity to serve as a coach on the Clemson Football Team, and has become quite the figurehead of the program. Every year, the brothers of PKP host a kickball game and cookout with the ClemsonLIFE program, along with many small events throughout the school year.
For more, see ClemsonLIFE.

Clemson University Outdoor Lab
This "hidden" part of campus serves as a camp for people with disabilities, and is University property. The brothers of Pi Kappa Phi, not limited to the Zeta Alpha chapter, have a long and prideful history in committing hours of volunteer labor to help the Outdoor Lab build new and improved facilities to give these campers the best experience possible. We continue to work with them today, and most recently worked on restoring a deck at "Betty's Place".
For more, see  Clemson University Outdoor Lab.

Our Philanthropy Chair

Picture
Nicholas Mercer is currently serving as the Philanthropy Chair for our chapter. Nicholas comes from a background of heavy personal involvement in programs such as ClemsonLIFE, and he has brought his connections, passion, and dedication to the chapter level. With a commitment to serving our Clemson community, Nicholas broadens our reach and influence, extending to opportunities with the Clemson University Outdoor Lab, and spearheading partnerships with other Greek Organizations on the Philanthropy front. Along with continuing our tradition of an annual kickball game with ClemsonLIFE students, Nicholas has furthered Pi Kapp's involvement with the program, creating lasting relationships. Under Nicholas, brothers have had opportunities to help ClemsonLIFE out with their own events, as well as simply hanging out with some of the students at their apartments. Nicholas will be a Junior this fall, studying Mechanical Engineering. He is from Durham, North Carolina.
